The new definition of freedom: Homeland Security black helicopter over NYC
Saturday, May 03, 2003

A UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter from the Department of Homeland Security's new Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) flies over the East side of Manhattan in New York City during a demonstration flight for members of the media, April 2, 2003.
George Orwell, 1984, page 4:
"In the far distance a helicopter skimmed down between the roofs, hovered for an instant like a satellite, and darted away again with a curving flight. It was the police patrol, snooping into people's windows. The patrols did not matter, though. Only the Thought Police mattered."

Media accused of aiding U.S. propaganda

    from swissinfo.org
White House spokesman Scott McClellan denied the existence of any administration propaganda campaign and predicted the American public would reject such notions as ridiculous.
"All propaganda must be so popular and on such an intellectual level, that even the most stupid of those toward whom it is directed will understand it... Through clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way around, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise." - A.H., from the last War against Terrorism

Example: US: Canada cares too much about liberties
"And it seems to me perfectly in the cards that there will be within the next generation or so a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing … a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda, brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods."

Fatherland Security spies on militia leader, has him fired from his job

    Agent disciplined over security disclosure
Jimmy Wynn fears the United Nations, a New World Order and government-implanted tracking devices.

(Note: real, real, and real, if Verichip gets used to "replace conventional paper identification", as has been proposed)

Wynn, the commanding officer of the Militia of Georgia and a Lawrenceville resident, asks supporters to report to him specifics of large police activities such as roadblocks "or house-to-house search and seizures."

So when the leader of the paramilitary group started working last spring as a retail clerk at Southeastern Guns in Norcross, his position worried Gwinnett County police and set in motion a chain of events that shed a glimmer of light on the highly secretive state Department of Homeland Security.

The case illustrates the dilemmas that investigators wrestle with as the nation wages an ongoing war on terror: Who should police keep tabs on? What should they do with the intelligence they gather? And what is "imminent" danger?

The New World Order begins at home

War gaming urged for countering terrorism on state, local level
State and local governments can improve their ability to respond to terrorist attacks by conducting exercises, much like the military does, using simulations to test joint operations and plan for war, a panel of homeland security experts said at the midyear conference of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers in Pittsburgh.

"...[In the case of] first responders, not only does the funding have to emerge, by nature they are multiagency initiatives, so it takes some time for the consortiums to form," Blossom said. As important as funding is for the success of first-responder initiatives, it's just as important for the agencies involved to choose a method of governance for the effort to succeed, he said.
"Did you ever see so much BS in one place? The feds are taking over everything - from public health to firefighting. And the fed.gov cash printing presses must be churning 24/7. (How long can they keep it up?) Watch the local, city, county, and state politicians dance for the cash. And whoever pays, controls. Locals can forget about ever holding anyone accountable. Our elected officials work for Dubya now. And soon, with the states being bankrupt, all we are going to hear is regionalization. This is the merging of counties to make the tax dollars go further, eliminating local control.

The state and county officials will turn flips to get some of this cash - and surrender state and local rights. We're going to play games now so we can anticipate when bin Laden/Saddam/Dubya's boogy man is going to strike next." - ratcat

A HISTORY OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER
The term "New World Order" was actually first used many years ago. Adolf Hitler said: "National Socialism will use its own revolution for the establishing of 'a new world order'."

The Associated Press reported that on July 26, 1968, New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller said in a speech to the International Platform Association at the Sheraton Park Hotel in New York, that "as President he would work toward international creation of a New World Order."

    Sinking The Constitution
    Friday, May 02, 2003

    by Jeanette Pontacq
Habeas corpus is Latin for "you have the body." A writ of habeas corpus is a judicial mandate to a prison official ordering that an inmate be brought to the court so it can be determined whether or not that person is imprisoned lawfully and whether or not he should be released from custody.

It also serves as an important check on the manner in which state courts pay respect to federal constitutional rights. Habeas corpus is the cornerstone of western law (from 1679 AD) and the foundation upon which the United States Constitution is built and endured so long. It is what keeps each citizen from being "disappeared" at the whim of government.

In the name of fighting terrorism, the Bush Administration has unilaterally trashed it as so much useless garbage. No, they didn't announce on Larry King Live that they were canceling it out of western civilization. Instead, they simply ignored it and both refused a lawyer and refused to state charges against an American citizen. Simply put, the citizen has been "disappeared" into the custody of the United States military.
Anyone remember this ancient relic of yesteryear?
"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
The mistitled USA PATRIOT Act (HR 3162) relinquishes any semblance of due process, violates the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendments, and unacceptably mixes aspects of criminal investigations with aspects of immigration and foreign intelligence laws.

And that's just PATRIOT Act 1. You'll love the sequel.

US: Canada cares too much about liberties
    Thursday, May 01, 2003

Terrorism report also says too little taxpayer money spent on omnipotent police-state
The United States says the lack of funding for police and restrictive privacy legislation in Canada are frustrating probes of political extremists.

The comments in an annual report on international terrorism were the latest critical remarks from the U.S. apparently aimed at prodding Canada to bring its security measures in line.

The State Department report on global terrorism for 2002 suggests that while Canada has been helpful in the fight against terrorism, it doesn't spend enough on policing and places too much emphasis on civil liberties.
Nope, it's not The Onion folks. How dare those pesky Canadians attempt to live in a free country!

    They better be careful.

    Political Deception

    The Missing Link behind 9-11

Of course they knew! The foreknowledge issue is a red herring. The "Islamic Brigades" are a creation of the CIA. In standard CIA jargon, Al Qaeda is categorized as an "intelligence asset". Support to terrorist organizations is an integral part of U.S. foreign policy. Al Qaeda continues to this date (2002) to participate in CIA covert operations in different parts of the World. These "CIA-Osama links" do not belong to a bygone era, as suggested by the mainstream media.

The U.S. Congress has documented in detail, the links of Al Qaeda to agencies of the U.S. government during the civil war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as in Kosovo. More recently in Macedonia, barely a few months before September 11, U.S. military advisers were mingling with Mujahideen mercenaries financed by Al Qaeda. Both groups were fighting under the auspices of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), within the same terrorist paramilitary formation.

The CIA keeps track of its "intelligence assets". Amply documented, Osama bin Laden's whereabouts were always known. Al Qaeda is infiltrated by the CIA. In other words, there were no "intelligence failures"! In the nature of a well-led intelligence operation, the "intelligence asset" operates (wittingly or unwittingly) with some degree of autonomy, in relation to its U.S. government sponsors, but ultimately it acts consistently, in the interests of Uncle Sam.

While individual FBI agents are often unaware of the CIA's role, the relationship between the CIA and Al Qaeda is known at the top levels of the FBI. Members of the Bush Administration and the U.S. Congress are fully cognizant of these links.

The foreknowledge issue focussing on "FBI lapses" is an obvious smokescreen. While the whistleblowers serve to underscore the weaknesses of the FBI, the role of successive U.S. administrations (since the presidency of Jimmy Carter) in support of the "Islamic Militant Base", is simply not mentioned.

The Pope thinks 9-11 was an inside job

    by Wayne Madsen
"...According to journalists close to the Vatican, the Pope and his closest advisers are also concerned that the ultimate acts of evil - the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon - were known in advance by senior Bush administration officials.

By permitting the attacks to take their course, there is a perception within the Roman Catholic Church hierarchy that a coup d'etat was implemented, one that gave Bush and his leadership near-dictatorial powers to carry out their agenda."
"The process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event -- like a new Pearl Harbor"
-- Project for a New American Century (2000)

Never mind the Pope, he's a pinko commie "hate-America-first" conspiracy wack-job.

    What is Cognitive Liberty?
    Wednesday, April 30, 2003

The Center for Cognitive Liberty & Ethics defines cognitive liberty as the right of each individual to think independently and autonomously, to use the full spectrum of his or her mind, and to engage in multiple modes of thought.

Any law or cultural mandate that restricts the freedom of an individual to form his or her own world view, or which restricts his or her freedom to think, perceive, or understand the world, raises a cognitive liberty issue.

Examples of such are Brain Fingerprinting, federally mandated Brain Scans and the forced alteration of brain biochemistry.

    The Secrets of September 11

    A NEWSWEEK Web Exclusive:

The White House is battling to keep a report on the terror attacks secret.
Does the 2004 election have anything to do with it?
Even as White House political aides plot a 2004 campaign plan designed to capitalize on the emotions and issues raised by the September 11 terror attacks, administration officials are waging a behind-the-scenes battle to restrict public disclosure of key events relating to the attacks.

At the center of the dispute is a more-than-800-page secret report prepared by a joint congressional inquiry detailing the intelligence and law-enforcement failures that preceded the attacks—including provocative, if unheeded warnings, given to President Bush and his top advisers during the summer of 2001.

The report was completed last December; only a bare-bones list of “findings” with virtually no details was made public. But nearly six months later, a “working group” of Bush administration intelligence officials assigned to review the document has taken a hard line against further public disclosure.

By refusing to declassify many of its most significant conclusions, the administration has essentially thwarted congressional plans to release the report by the end of this month, congressional and administration sources tell NEWSWEEK.

    Just a Reminder:
'Red Means Big Brother's in Charge'

    by Chisun Lee
If the nation were actually to reach red alert status, odds are the "Privacy Threat Index" color chart at epic.org would be wiped from the virtual world. Red means the government controls everything, the lives of Americans online and off. And the Washington, D.C.-based Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), a watchdog group focusing on privacy and technology, is a frequent critic and courtroom challenger of the surveillance-minded Bush administration.

"Red is somewhere between Gattaca"—the science fiction movie in which the state uses genetics to dictate people's lives—"and George Orwell's 1984," said EPIC executive director Marc Rotenberg. "Red means Big Brother's in charge."

Lawyer: FBI agent's job in jeopardy because she blew the whistle

Suprise, Suprise: FBI loots WTC; fires agent who blew whistle on looting
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A veteran FBI agent, who last year reported fellow agents had taken a Tiffany globe from "Ground Zero" in the September 11 terrorism investigation, has been informed the FBI intends to fire her, her lawyer said Tuesday.

Agent Jane Turner, a 25-year veteran of the FBI in the Minneapolis field office, last week received a "notice of proposed removal," according to attorney Stephen Kohn.

Kohn, Chairman of the National Whistleblower Center in Washington, said Turner had received a memo from her Minneapolis supervisor charging she had "tarnished the Bureau."
The FBI just can't seem to get that when they break the law, they're criminals too.

Is Your Car Spying On You?

    from KLTV, Tyler (TX)
Adrianne Newman loves her SUV. But she never knew it was spying on her!

    "Shocked. Completely surprised," she says.

Like many cars, Adrianne's has a black box - similar to those in airplanes-- that keeps track of her driving.

"What you do in your own car you think is private. To be told that you're being recorded, it's an invasion of privacy."

"David Sobel at the Electronic Privacy Information Center says most drivers have no idea they're being recorded.

"I think the whole concept of secretly collecting information about people and their daily activities is something that most American citizens react to very negatively," Sobel says.

This attorney is defending a woman accused in a deadly crash. Police are using the black box she never knew she had... to put her on trial.

"It's akin to having "big brother", having a government agent sitting in the back seat with the individual," says attorney Bob Weiner.

    Sen. Graham Hits Bush Secrecy
    Tuesday, April 29, 2003

    from The St. Petersburg Times
Graham said last week that the Bush administration is paralyzed by "an excessive sense of what constitutes national security."

He said the administration is also afraid of embarrassment: "They do not want to have documents released that indicate in detail some of the missteps that led to Sept. 11."

Graham now mentions White House secrecy in virtually every campaign speech. He complains not only about the documents related to the Sept. 11 report, but about an executive order Bush signed in March that keeps sealed millions of other executive documents.
Of course, while Senator Graham tries to expose what he calls a "cover-up" of 9-11, he has some serious explaining of his own to do.

U.S. Says al-Qaeda Hurt but Not Broken

CIA reins in loose cannons, and keeps their Al Qaeda creation alive and well
WASHINGTON (AP) - Al-Qaeda has been badly disrupted by the loss of several key leaders but continues to try to put together terrorist attacks, U.S. military and counterterrorism officials said Thursday.

"There's no question but that the intelligence community broadly feels that al-Qaeda has been significantly weakened,'' Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said.
The CIA's intent was never to destroy their Al Qaeda offspring or even to "badly disrupt" the Bin Laden network. The CIA wants to grab and silence those with "loose lips," and make sure that they never get on the witness stand, such as in the Moussaoui case. For example, take Khalid Sheikh Mohammed: Terror mastermind with taste for high life -
"He tapped away on a laptop computer and bragged about his exploits, particularly his hand in the September 11 attacks. The CIA and other intelligence agencies immediately diverted resources to Pakistan, realising how crucial a capture Mohammed would be...

By then he had tried once to demolish the World Trade Centre, using his nephew, Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, to plant a lorry bomb in an underground car park in 1993. He supervised every aspect of the September 11 attacks. He met some of the hijack leaders in Germany and Malaysia as long ago as 1999...

Mohammed joined the Muslim Brotherhood. This did not stop him accepting a scholarship to study mechanical engineering in North Carolina...

By 1986 he had drifted back to Pakistan, and then on to Afghanistan to fight the Soviet Union, with his brothers Zahid, Abed and Aref. They died there, but Mohammed slipped back to Karachi. He travelled widely and set up businesses in Qatar that al-Qaeda would use to shift funds, before moving to South-East Asia..."
Yes, serving in CIA operations was very much a family affair, which his nephew Ramzi Yousef was involved in when he "drifted" on to New York.
"According to Pakistani investigators, Ramzi Youssef, convicted mastermind of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center in New York, lived at a Bin Laden-funded safe house in Peshawar during most of the three years before his capture in 1995...

When Youssef came to the U.S. in 1992, the Alkifah center, which had been founded by bin Laden's mentor Abdullah Azzam, was his first stop. Alkifah has been identified by an aide to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak as a CIA front for transferring funds, weapons, and recruits to the anti-Soviet mujaheddin in Afghanistan."
And, wonder of wonders: ARAB VETERANS OF AFGHANISTAN WAR LEAD NEW ISLAMIC HOLY WAR [Oct. 1994]
“The Al-Kifah, or Struggle, Refugee Center in New York, which used to recruit and raise funds for Mujahedeen headed for Afghanistan, last year announced it was switching its operations to Bosnia". Al-Qaida training chief Abu Zubaydah knows far too much about this. He's going to be locked up and kept isolated from the world for a long time.
Bin Laden's Terror Networks in Europe
"One month later, the Bosnian government arrested Bensayah Belkacem, who had phone conversations with Abu Zubaydah, a Bin Laden top aide in charge of coordinating Mujahedeen recruitment from Afghanistan for the Bosnian war. He was also responsible for the training camps. Zubaydah and Belkacem discussed how to obtain passports from different countries. Belkacem himself had presented false documents to the Bosnian police when he applied for Bosnian citizenship."
Yes, there may be "Al-Qaeda leaders in Iran." Remember, the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, you know the "good guys" who fought the "terrorists"? Well, contrary to the Bush administration's spin on US military intervention in Afghanistan, the NA were very much a part of the Madrassas-Al Qaeda network. The war in Afghanistan amounted to a war within the terrorist network. Al-Qaeda Finds A Friend in Iran
"Without Iran, most Northern Alliance commanders couldn't have operated in Afghanistan at a time when they had no other source of international support," says a senior Afghan government source. "Almost every important Afghan commander has family living in Iran and most of them were educated in fundamentalist religious schools, or madrassas."
The Madrassas system was set up by the CIA to begin with.
"Assuming the war with the Soviets would be a long drawn out one, CIA funded many of the Madrassahs through the ISI in the 80s as a future source of recruits."
If the CIA just can't figure out where Ayman Al-Zawahiri "disappeared" to, maybe they can ask his brother, who operates a KLA-NLA training camp in the US-occupied sector of Kosovo.

Abu Musab Zarqawi did "pass through Iran." Ironically the Bush administration tried to connect him to Saddam.
"According to Powell, the head of the Kurdish terrorist group is a person by the name of Abu Musab Al Zarqawi who "fought in the Afghan war more than a decade ago". (Colin Powell's Address to the UNSC, 5 February 2003 ). Ironically, this statement points to the complicity of Washington rather than Baghdad. What it actually means is that Al-Zarqawi fought in the US sponsored Afghan wars as part of a CIA led operation."
That "al-Qaida's top operative" in Yemen, who "the CIA killed" with a Pedator missile was Kamal Derwish, who would have been the star witness in the Buffalo Al Qaeda case. He took the defendents to the Al Farooq training camp in Afghanistan. This just happens to be a Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HUM) training camp. HUM was one of the Al Qaeda groups created by the CIA, and they have been very useful to the CIA for the last two decades in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, and other places. Derwish's testimony would have been most interesting!

    Report: Anthrax Kills Again
    Monday, April 28, 2003

Report: Anthrax in Suitcase Kills Egyptian Heading to Canada
UPDATE: CBC News: Anthrax didn't kill ship's crew member
("Cause of his death is not known." See below: )
BRASILIA, Brazil — An Egyptian ship crewman has apparently died from exposure to anthrax contained in a suitcase he opened, Reuters news service reported Monday.

An autopsy of the man, identified as Ibrahim Saved Soliman Ibrahim, revealed that he died in his hotel room April 11 after experiencing vomiting, multiple organ failure and internal bleeding, which were believed to have been caused by the deadly bacteria, according to Reuters.

"He was the victim of anthrax," said Brazilian federal police spokesman Fernando Sergio Castro, adding that officials were 90 percent certain that anthrax was the culprit.
This story doesn't seem to be getting a lot of media attention. I wonder why.
With SARS as the New Coke, again we ask:
  • Why are we supposed to forget about the Anthrax attacks of 2001?

There are a bunch of conflicting vervions of this story flying around the datasphere (via WRH):
  • In this version of the story, the sailor died at sea, possibly from something other than Anthrax
  • Again, the sailor died at sea and the rest of the crew, untouched, continued on after leaving the body ashore as if they had no worry about infection from anything carried by the sailor.
  • This story has the sailor dying in a hotel room!
  • And in this story, the RCMP denies the suitcase story entirely.
  • Anthrax Did Not Kill Egypt Sailor in Brazil-Medic
  • No Anthrax on ship after all. No explanation given for suitcase story.
  • Does this remind anyone of the INCIDENT AT LAGUARDIA?

Once again we have a (possible) attempted "terror" attack on a nation (Canada) opposed to war in the Mideast and the PNAC agenda. (Bali, French Oil Tanker, etc.) Who benefits from this? Not the Arab nations. Wait a minute, they haven't benefited at all.

On the other hand, Osama got the US to 1.) take out Iraq, 2.) pull troops out of Saudi Arabia, and possibly team up with his buddies from the Muslim Brotherhood to take out Syria.

3.) Just a month after 9.11, Osama bin Laden predicted:
"Freedom and human rights in America are doomed...The US government will lead the American people - and the West in general - into an unbearable hell and a choking life."
    Osama - 3, US - 0, Thanks Bush.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- (AP) "The government says numerous sealed documents in the case of accused terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui can be made public, agreeing in part with media organizations, but it draws the line at classified material -- even if the contents were disclosed in news articles."
This is truly a bizarre situation. Does that mean that publicly available news articles are now (for all intents and purposes) classified or simply not to be spoken of? Is this another example of State sanctioned, yet voluntary memory-holeing? This will be interesting. What exactly happens when publicly available information becomes unmentionable?
"Some documents, if made public, 'could damage not only the relations between the United States and another country but would threaten the ability of the United States government to secure the assistance of their counterparts ... in the global war on terrorism,' prosecutors said."
Yup, the Chechen/USA/al-Qaeda link must not be spoken of.

Police to Check Prints On The Spot

Police State, USA: "May I see your papers, er... fingers, please."
(Portland, OR) -- Portland police may soon be asking for more than a license when making a traffic stop, but also requesting a motorist to stick out a thumb and forefinger.

Next month, more than a dozen officers will carry handheld devices on the street that will allow them to instantly verify a person's identity by analyzing their fingerprints.
