Just think about it
Saturday, May 24, 2003
Lee Harris of Policy Review wants us to examine the "political purpose" of the 9.11 attacks in an attempt to dismantle the "Root Cause" argument against the war on terrorism. The author argues that because "al-Qaeda" hasn't "struck again" domestically, they are operating under a "fantasy ideology". "The assumption is this: An act of violence on the magnitude of 9-11 can only have been intended to further some kind of political objective. What this political objective might be, or whether it is worthwhile — these are all secondary considerations; but surely people do not commit such acts unless they are trying to achieve some kind of recognizably political purpose. " I wonder how much this "fantasy ideology" has changed from the time "al-Qaeda" was running CIA Ops in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Chechnya. The most recognizable and actualized "objective" for the September 11th attacks is found in the doctrine
"Rebuilding America's Defenses" from the Project for a New American Century: "The process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event -- like a new Pearl Harbor" (2000, p. 63) The benefits of terrorism throughout history from Diocletian (Christians), to the burning of the Reichstag building (Jews), to 9-11 (Arabs), advance only the political agendas of those being attacked, not those doing the attacking.
Can you think of an example where terrorists benefited from terrorism?"But what happens when it is not an individual who is caught up in his fantasy world, but an entire group — a sect, or a people, or even a nation? That such a thing can happen is obvious from a glance at history." On this point, the author and I are in full agreement. Undoubtedly, for opposite reasons, such as the paranoid fear of evil boogeymen living in caves, who are trying to "take away our freedom", vs. the reality behind the dismantling of the Constitution & the Bill of Rights, and the creation of police-state USA to fit this fantasy.

"Operation Wake The F*ck Up" Begins
On the evening of May 20, Direct Action anti-authoritarian activists from the White Mountain Autonoma, AnarchoNinjas, and the Trained Monkee Collective came together to 'tag' every pay phone in Nashua, NH with a sticker that reads, "This Phone is Tapped" in large letters, citing the relevant section (Section 215) of the Patriot Act 2001 authorizing this in smaller print. An example of the stickers may be viewed here. The stickers are placed upon the telephone receivers.
Intended to create situations where the average mass media-deadened citizen of Nashua is confronted with the current political reality of life under Bush II and his attack dogs of Homeland Security, Nashua was chosen as the introductory site for "Operation Wake The F*ck Up" due to its large population, strategic location on the NH-Massachusetts border (thousands of Bay Staters shop in Nashua daily to avoid Massachusetts sales tax), and the critical role it plays in the NH Presidential Primaries as the first large population block to report its' poll returns.
There are approximately 400 pay phones in Nashua, locate in the various shopping malls, pubs, public buildings, stores, restaurants, and hotels - including the 8 pay phones in the lobby of the Sheraton Tara, preferred home-away-from-home for Bush II when in the greater Boston area, due to its isolation and 'security'.
Additional activities are planned for the near future, including mock "stop-and-search" actions, imitating the activities of Homeland Security and its componant bureaus and agencies. These will be very similar to the mock "search-and-destroy" missions used to great effect by Vietnam Veterans Against The War during the anti-Vietnam War years, in which activists, dressed as ordinary people, are pulled out from the innocent spectators and are mock-abused in true government style.

TIA and LifeLog's Shadowy Sister Revealed
Friday, May 23, 2003
by John Markoff, The New York Times The research being conducted for the National Security Agency, Central Intelligence Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency is being financed by a little known federal office called the Advanced Research and Development Activity, established during the Clinton administration to provide federal intelligence agencies with basic research capability similar to that of Darpa.
The agency has a budget of about $100 million a year, according to a former government official. Its research covers a wide range of areas from nanotechnology to quantum computing.
The agency is pursuing research in areas like facial recognition as well as basic image recognition technologies, according to computer scientists. In March 2000, for example, the organization reviewed 45 research proposals and made grants to nine organizations including corporations, universities and research centers that are studying various image recognition problems.
ARDA is also financing a program called "Novel Intelligence from Massive Data," which was begun after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The intent of the project is to give intelligence analysts early warning of "strategic surprises" in the same way that the Total Information Awareness system was intended to provide advance information about possible domestic terrorist attacks.
Both the Pentagon's Total Information Awareness project and the ARDA research project seek to detect hidden patterns of activity in vast collections of digital data.

Investment Espionage and The White House
FLASHBACK: Bush Administration Links To Pre-9/11 Insider Trading by Tom Flocco There is growing evidence that the FBI and other government intelligence entities are more closely linked to the documented accumulation of pre-9/11 insider trading profits than was originally thought. But thus far the Joint Congressional Intelligence Committee has not publicly referred to prior knowledge of the attacks as it relates to stock transaction profits, while also failing after nine months to publicize the critical Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) “control list” report tracing what in effect were stock trading profits of death.
Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) spokesman Tom Crispell denied that the CIA was monitoring “real-time,” pre-September 11 stock trading activity within U.S. borders using such software as the Prosecutor’s Management Information System (PROMIS) or the Echelon satellite monitoring system. However, when asked whether the CIA had been scrutinizing world financial markets for national security purposes, Crispell replied, “I have no way of knowing what operations are [being affected by our assets] outside the country.” Given 3,000 deaths, victim family lawyers may want to know...
...Worrisome reports link two intelligence leaders in the Senate and House directly to the leader of Pakistan's intelligence arm, The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and indirectly to the leader of the 9/11 Hijackers.
A Times of India (10-12-2001) story by Manoj Joshi revealed that Pakistani ISI Director-General Lt. General Mahmud Ahmad sought retirement after the U.S. attacks -- confirmed by top sources in India, because of evidence produced by India showing his links to Mohammed Atta, the terrorist hijacking leader.
The Times said that "U.S. authorities sought his [Ahmad's] removal after confirming the fact that $100,000 was wired to WTC hijacker Mohammed Atta from Pakistan by Ahmad Umar Sheikh on the instructions of ISI Lt. General Ahmad." Senior [U.S.] government sources "have confirmed that India contributed significantly to establishing the link between the money transfer and the role played by the dismissed ISI chief."....
This is the key right here and it is precisely why the Mueller has "forgotten" about these money trials from Bin Laden's network to the hijackers. The ISI ties to JeM are clear, but what about the CIA?“Yet the U.S. State Department didn't add J-e-M to its list of terrorist groups until Dec. 26 – even though Indian intelligence had briefed administration officials months earlier about J-e-M's ties to al-Qaida and the Sept. 11 attack on America. J-e-M and another Pakistan-based terrorist group were the last groups added to State's blacklist, which now totals 30.
Only now, in the wake of Pearl's murder, is the administration publicly acknowledging J-e-M's ties to al-Qaida…..
The alleged mastermind behind the plot is Ahmed Omar Sayeed Sheikh, aka Sheikh Omar Saeed, who is one of J-e-M's top leaders and, as WorldNetDaily reported Feb. 7, one of Osama bin Laden's chief moneymen. He had wired $100,000 to hijacking ringleader Mohamed Atta to help finance the Sept. 11 attacks.” JeM is a spinoff from HuM, which has very deep CIA relations, which were a major part of the CIA's Kosovo and Bosnia operations. At one time in the 1980's, there were direct connections between JeM leaders and the CIA."Between 6,000 and 10,000 Muslims, the majority of them Arabs, went and fought against the Soviet troops in Afghanistan, with Saudi Arabia funding them, the ISI training and motivating them and the CIA and other Western intelligence agencies equipping them.....
A number of new pan-Islamic organisations of Wahabi-Deobandi-Ahle Hadith orientation sprang up in Pakistani soil and these were given the leadership role by the US for leading the mercenary brigade to battle. The most important amongst them were the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HUM), the Harkat-ul-Jihad-Al-Islami (HUJI) and the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LET)....
The HUM, which produced some of the best fighters of the Afghan war, was favoured by the CIA and got the lion's share of the Stinger missiles, explosives and other equipment....
The Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) was formed in the beginning of 2000 by a split in the HUM.....
The CIA asked the ISI to divert part of the dregs of the HUM and the HUJI to Bosnia to assist the Muslims there in their fight against the Serbs. The transfer to Bosnia was funded by the Saudi Intelligence, the arms and ammunition were given by the Iranian Intelligence and the leadership and motivation were provided by serving and retired officers of the ISI and the Turkish intelligence.
Omar Sheikh, who masterminded the kidnapping of Daniel Pearl of the "Wall Street Journal", had his jihadi inoculation in Bosnia just as bin Laden had his in Afghanistan. From Bosnia, they were diverted to Kosovo by the CIA and thereafter again left in the lurch after they had done the USA's hatchet job in the Balkans....." by BlackJade

Information Operations: A New War-Fighting Capability (Ch 4)
Are you ready for the "implanted microscopic brain chip"? from www.au.af.mil (the US Air Force's Air University) "2025" is a study designed to comply with a directive from the chief of staff of the Air Force to examine the concepts, capabilities, and technologies the United States will require to remain the dominant air and space force in the future. Presented on 17 June 1996, this report was produced in the Department of Defense school environment of academic freedom and in the interest of advancing concepts related to national defense.
All-Source Information Collectors
All-source information collectors will transmit raw data to the IIC, discussed below. The collectors are linked by way of high-speed relay and dissemination systems. The collection platforms, in air and space, will be numerous and flexible.
Archival Databases
Archival databases will be used for historical analysis and to fill gaps if the information is not available for collection. Much of the archival data will be resident in the GII, while secured permanent ground stations will store classified data.
IIC
The IIC is a constellation of integration or "smart" satellites that receives all-source information. Within the IIC, resident intelligent software will run decision support tools, correlate and fuse data into useful information, identify inconsistencies and information gaps, and task collectors to seek data to fill information gaps.
Implanted Microscopic Chip
The implanted microscopic brain chip performs two functions. First, it links the individual to the IIC, creating a seamless interface between the user and the information resources (in-time collection data and archival databases). In essence, the chip relays the processed information from the IIC to the user. Second, the chip creates a computer-generated mental visualization based upon the user's request. The visualization encompasses the individual and allows the user to place himself into the selected battlespace.
Why the Implanted Microscopic Chip?
While other methods such as specially configured rooms, special helmets, or sunglasses may be used to interface the user with the IIC, the microscopic chip is the most viable. Two real operational concerns support the use of implanted chips and argue against larger "physical" entities to access the Cyber Situation.
First, future operations will demand a highly flexible and mobile force that is ready at moment's notice to employ aerospace power. The chip will give these forces the ability to communicate, visualize, and prosecute military operations. Having to manage and deploy a "physical" platform or room hampers mobility and delays time-sensitive operations. US aerospace forces must be prepared to fight or to conduct mobility or special operations anywhere in the world on extremely short notice although some of these operations may be staged directly from the continental United States.111
Second, a physical entity creates a target vulnerable to enemy attack or sabotage. A highly mobile information operations center created with the chip-IIC interface makes it much more elusive to enemy attack. These reasons argue against a larger physical entity for the Cyber Situation.
While this is a reasonable portability rationale for the use of chip, some may wonder, "Why not use special sunglasses or helmets?" The answer is simple. An implanted microscopic chip does not require security measures to verify whether the right person is connected to the IIC, whereas a room, helmet, or sunglasses requires additional time-consuming access control mechanisms to verify an individual's identity and level of control within the Cyber Situation.
Further, survey any group of commanders, decision makers, or other military personnel if they enjoy carrying a beeper or "brick" at all times. Likely, few like to carry a piece of equipment. Now, imagine having to maintain a critical instrument that allows an individual to access the Cyber Situation, and thus control the US military forces. Clearly, this is not an enviable position, since the individual may misplace or lose the helmet or sunglasses, or worse yet, the enemy may steal or destroy it. These are unnecessary burdens.
Ethical and Public Relations Issues.
Implanting "things" in people raises ethical and public relations issues. While these concerns may be founded on today's thinking, in 2025 they may not be as alarming. We already are evolving toward technology implanting. For example, the military currently requires its members to receive mandatory injections of biological organisms (i.e., the flu shot). In the civilian world, people receive mechanical hearts and other organs. Society has come to accept most of these implants as a fact of life. By 2025 it is possible medical technology will have nerve chips that allow amputees to control artificial limbs or eye chips that allow the blind to see. The civilian populace will likely accept an implanted microscopic chips that allow military members to defend vital national interests.

Hackers are Terrorists too
by Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocusThe enhanced search and surveillance powers Congress gave the Justice Department in the USA-PATRIOT Act haven't just been used in the war on terror: it turns out they're helpful in everything from spying on credit cards fraudsters to tracking down computer hackers.
On Tuesday lawmakers on the House Judiciary committee publicly released the Justice Department's written response to a laundry list of congressional questions probing law enforcement's use of the Act, which passed as an anti-terror measure in October 2001.

American Gestapo: A Primer
by Carter Laren, Capitalism Magazine People "want the government to be their friend," Aaron Zelman and L. Neil Smith once wrote, "and despite the evidence, they've tried to convince themselves it is." Whitewash: FAA Delay in Reporting 9/11 Hijackings Probed
from NewsdayWashington - The independent commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks grilled the former chief federal aviation regulator yesterday in a tense public exchange over whether the government bungled its response that day.
Jane Garvey, former head of the Federal Aviation Administration, was asked pointedly by commissioner Richard Ben-Veniste why the agency apparently took a half-hour to notify the country's air defense command about the hijackings. The FAA are scapegoats, these questions should be going to NORAD and the Pentagon.

The CIA Uses Sunnis & Shi'ites to create a "Mujahideen" Army
Caput58 made some interesting points in this response to "New Al-Qaeda" like New Coke only harder to buy posted on May 19: "The Madrassah system is a catchall phrase meaning school. The Iranians are Shi'a, Bin Ladin and his organization are Sunni - the two do not work together, their respective schools teach totally different forms of Islam. Iran was supporting the Northern alliance as a balance to Pakistan's support of the Taliban." "Madrassah" is sometimes used as a general terms for "schools." In this particular context, where "Madrassahs" ["Madrassas"] are referred to as "fundamentalist religious schools," "Madrassah" has a more specific meaning, to indoctrinate "mujahideen.": http://www.libertyforum.org/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=news_international&Number=321137#Post321137 "Without Iran, most Northern Alliance commanders couldn't have operated in Afghanistan at a time when they had no other source of international support," says a senior Afghan government source. "Almost every important Afghan commander has family living in Iran and most of them were educated in fundamentalist religious schools, or madrassas." The Northern Alliance and the Taliban, and their madrassas, have a common origin. They both are the offspring of the CIA's "mujahideen." http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/TAL111A.html"In what fundamental ways do the disparate factions of the Northern Alliance differ from the Taliban? They were all mujahideen, trained, armed and financed by the Pakistan intelligence service ( ISI), the CIA and Saudi Arabia to fight the Soviets. (See Part II) They have been battling among themselves since that time." Osama Bin Laden, a Saudi national, is a Sunni and so are the leaders of Al Qaeda or "the base" of the Bin Laden organization. The OBL network was designed to forge an alliance among the different branches and theological subdivisions of Islam. The Al Qaeda operatives were trained to go to local Islamic communities throughout Europe, Asia, and northern Africa and graft the local groups with the Al Qaeda cells. The aim was to create as many "mujahideen" as possible from all over the world, who were highly motivated "holy warriors" to defeat the "godless Soviets" and whoever they were told was the "enemy of Islam." Shi'ite Iran was very much a part of these "mujahideen" operations. http://www.proxsa.org/resources/9-11/Natrajan-0109xx-Afghan%20Timeline.htm1986 "Bill Casey, then head of the CIA, gives $8 billion to train mujahedeen recruits against the Soviets... There were many factions (at least 7 guerilla groups) within the mujahedeen, some of them also run by Iran. One young recruit was Osama bin Laden. In late 1986, he helped set up the Khost tunnel complex, which the CIA funded as a major arms storage depot, training facility and medical center for the mujahedeen, close to the Pakistan border." In the 1990's the Clinton administration arranged for Iranian Shi'ites to use Al Qaeda channels to arm and aid the CIA's proxy Muslim army in Bosnia. To Clinton and to today's "neocons," the presence of Al Qaeda in Iran didn't seem to be such a big problem, when it worked to the CIA's advantage. "Also engaged in the effort were several other Muslim countries (including Brunei, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Turkey) and a number of radical Muslim organizations." Clinton Administration supported the "Militant Islamic Base" [in Bosnia]
The same CIA alliance with Saudi Sunnis and Iranian Shi'ites was also supporting the CIA's "freedom fighters," the Kosovo Liberation Army. Bin Laden, Iran, and the KLA: How Islamic Terrorism Took Root in Albania"Bin Laden’s kind offer of "humanitarian help" in 1994 has been used repeatedly ever since to fund terrorism in Albania. Many terrorists have posed as "humanitarian workers" since. Secret KLA training camps, which the CIA and SAS also used, were created in Northern Albania by Iran and other countries "using Islamic educational institutions and projects for the development of rural communities as a front." Back in 1999, "a Saudi government audit acquired by US intelligence showed that 5 of Saudi Arabia’s top business executives ordered the National Commercial Bank (NCB), the kingdom’s largest, to transfer personal funds along with $3 million diverted from a Saudi pension fund to New York and London banks. The money was diverted into the accounts of Islamic charities, including Islamic Relief and Blessed Relief, that serve as fronts for Bin Laden." I think the reason why Iran was at war with the Taliban was mostly because of oil and other vital economic interests, rather than differences in religious beliefs. The Taliban regime was a threat to everybody's regional oil and gas pipeline schemes, so this alliance of "strange bedfellows" [US, Russia, Iran, & India] banded together to throw out the Taliban and install a Northern Alliance regime. India in anti-Taliban military plan-- India and Iran will "facilitate" the planned US-Russia hostilities against the Taliban. "Iran is also worried over the unending war effort of the Taliban to get supremacy in Afghanistan that is harming Iran's economic interests. India, Iran and Russia, for example, are working on a broad plan to supply oil and gas to south Asia and southeast Asian nations through India but instability in Afghanistan is posing a great threat to this effort." Note that the date on this article is June 26, 2001. This operation was planned and was started long before Sept. 11, 2001!

Bush equated with Hitler in 'Matrix' sequel?
Thursday, May 22, 2003
from WorldNetDaily via FR"I saw it. The TV monitors show Nazis, Hitler, and an atomic explosion, and somewhere in the midst of all that the face of George W. Bush can be seen for a second or so." "Why would such a peace-loving president so emotionally engaged with the struggle of the common man ever be included alongside such dark images?"What could the filmmakers have been thinking? Is it too late to start a boycott of this film? ... Maybe if enough pressure can be exerted, they can have the offensive image removed before they press the DVD!" I am speechless. I'll let the two gentlemen in question handle this one:
"There ought to be limits to freedom."
"We come not as conquerors, but as liberators."
-- George Bush
"Not as tyrants have we come, but as liberators."
"An evil exists that threatens every man, woman and child of this great nation. We must take steps to insure our domestic security and protect our homeland." "Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death."
-- Adolf Hitler

Wolfowitz Meets "in Private" with NLA Terrorist Ali Ahmeti
Wednesday, May 21, 2003
by Christopher DelisoWolfowitz's trip to Macedonia was decidedly low-key, and lasted only a few hours. Officially, he came for the photo op and speech praising the Iraq-bound Macedonian conscripts. However, the fact that he also met in private with former NLA boss Ali Ahmeti, President Boris Trajkovski, and later with Prime Minister Branko Crvenkovski and Defense Minister Vlade Buchkovski seems to indicate that Rumsfeld's right-hand man came to talk business. by BlackJadeIs Paul Wolfowitz going to stop by Ayman Al-Zawahiri's brother's training camp for the CIA's "freedom fighters," the KLA-NLA, in the US-occupied sector of Kosovo and praise these Al Qaeda trainers of the NLA for a job well done? Wolfowitz's "private" meeting with former NLA boss Ali Ahmeti is most interesting considering what happened at Arachinovo:[June 28, 2002] The first group of documents clearly shows that Ali Ahmeti was receiving orders directly from Hasim Thaci. The journalist Hub Jaspers confirms the claims of the Macedonian security forces that the "NLA" is not "local" terrorist organization, but that it was established and led by centers in Kosovo....
The documents also point out that the "NLA" was helped by the USA with logistic support and weapons.
"Speak freely, only the Americans listen to what we say. OK, perhaps the Russians can hear us as well," this is a quote from a conversation between two "NLA" commanders during the conflict last year. The information that Jaspers received shows that the USA have equipped the "NLA" commanders with communication devices so they can communicate during the clashes without to be heard. However, the UCKas did not know that their conversations were recorded by intelligence services of several other European NATO member countries, and Jaspers obtained these recordings.
"According to these information, 70% of the weapons that the NLA had was produced in the USA," Jaspers says.
One of the most shocking news is that in the village of Arachinovo, together with the commander Hodza's UCKas, also 17 American military instructors from the mercenary MPRI went in.
"The European intelligence services were surprised when 17 Americans exited from the buses with which they pulled out the Albanian terrorists from Kosovo. It is not certain if they fought on the side of the "NLA" but they have certainly trained them for combat," Jaspers says. Similar claims were also published in the Greek "Kathimerini" and the German "Hamburger Abenblat." MPRI sure had a racket going here. They also had a contract to train the Macedonian army, as well as the KLA-NLA guerrillas.
It is interesting to note that the Bush administration is demanding that the US should be exempt from the ICC. Their attitude is that they shouldn't have to abide by the rules that they expect the rest of the world to abide by. I don't agree with this ICC either, but what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. It is intriguing to note that no member of the Bin Laden network has ever been tried for "war crimes." But those who fought Osama's terrorist cells, i.e. Milosevic, have been tried by the ICTY kangaroo court. In fact, that was his "crime," to fight the KLA, who were incorporated into Bin Laden cells, under the direction of the CIA.
I don't agree that "American foreign policy has changed dramatically since 9/11." It has changed in appearance only to lead people to believe that the Bush administration actually wants to can those "charities" and other money trails to Al Qaeda from Saudi Arabia & other sources.
With all the evidence that the author himself presents, I would think that he would not seriously believe that the goal of US policy is to "contain fighting and/or terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Morocco." That may be the stated rationale, but the Bush administration, like the Clinton administration, is still knocking down Al Qaeda with one hand and propping it up with the other.
Arachinovo & Wolfowitz's "private" meeting with ex-NLA leader Ali Ahmeti, along with the President, Prime Minister, & Defense Minister of Macedonia, is living proof of this.

DHS Whistleblower: Today's "Terror Alert" jump to divert scrutiny
Tuesday, May 20, 2003
"Today's (May 20th) jump to 'LEVEL ORANGE ALERT' is to divert scrutiny over DHS (oversight committee hearings) and the crumbling of TSA, recently lanced by press and Congress and Senate for hiring convicted felons and murderers to screen the public at airports, waste, fraud and missing funds in the multi-millions. The time may be ripe for another staged "attack" here as we smarter ones are getting too hip to what the fake alerts are really all about. The only perceptible change here has been the banning once more of private aircraft flying ver[sic] certain areas. Libertythink Homeland Propaganda Alert Level Remains at RED ("Severe")
Question: What's the difference between these two statements?
BBC News: US heightens terror alert Fox News: Nation Returns to Orange Alert
Ahhh.. Returning to Orange Alert. Right where we should be.
Case in point for the Libertythink Homeland Propaganda Alert level to remain at RED.
Citizens are still advised to remain vigilant and be on a high level of alert for "the dead baby story" or any event whose apparent urgency brooks no delay - specifically, no time for cool deliberation or negotiating on peace proposals. Human interest stories are ideal for engendering this atmosphere.
Apparently, based on the Bombings in Morocco by members of the Moroccan terror group Salafi Jihadi, who fought for the CIA in Afghanistan, Chechnya, Dagestan, Bosnia and Kosovo, and the bombings in Saudi Arabia by leader Khaled Jehani, who fought for the CIA in Afghanistan, Bosnia & Chechnya, there are a whole bunch of CIA-trained "jihadists" who are getting all riled up.
Yet they are following a pattern of maintaining curious levels of morality that has led some to believe: "This is another sign of an 'inside job,' in that it is timed to cause a limited amount of damage, but not total devastation.""They then drove onto the compound and turned right which is what saved us. Had he gone straight and into the center of the compound the detonation would have been devestating." 1 "Same with 9-11. If the terrorists had hit the WTC later in the day, many more people would have been killed and the damage would have been much more serious."
"The object was to cause a limited amount of death and destruction, but not to stop the US government from functioning or to kill 10,000 people. If this was just an attack designed to "kill Americans," they would have hit when they knew that more people would be inside the building." As this pattern continues; of "terrorists", in which we are supposedly at war with, who don't want to kill that many people, but just make a statement (OKC, 9:02 AM), it should hopefully be raising more red flags within the mainstream media. Who benefits from all of this anyway? Hmm... PROBLEM - REACTION - SOLUTION

Barcoding humans
The era of implanting people with identity chips is up on us by Angela Swafford, Boston Globe The painless procedure barely lasted 15 minutes. In his South Florida office, Dr. Harvey Kleiner applied a local anesthetic above the tricep of my right arm, then he inserted a thick needle deep under the skin.
''First we locate a prime spot,'' he said. ''The next thing is to release the button that triggers the injection mechanism, and that's it, the cargo's been delivered.''
The ''cargo'' was a half-inch-long microchip inside a glass and silicone cylinder that carries my permanent identification number. GPS implant designed for humans 'tested' Philip K. Dick's Black Iron Subdermal Prison

Protester, Terrorist - What's the Difference?
from the Oklahoma Tribune "You can make an easy kind of a link that, if you have a protest group protesting a war where the cause that's being fought against is international terrorism, you might have terrorism at that (protest)," said Van Winkle, of the state Justice Department.
"You can almost argue that a protest against that is a terrorist act." And I can "almost argue" that "the threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons" is a terrorist act.
But by claiming to be "protecting us" from the CIA's "freedom fighters" somehow makes every single alphabet-soup agency exempt from "coercing societies for ideological or political reasons".
"Preemptive" arrests of protestors in St. Louis Protest versus an act of terrorism Protest Now A Terrorist Act In CA Police offering reward to identify anti-war protesters Oregon Bill to define protesters as terrorists and put them in camps for life "The ironic thing is, this bill is so broadly written that passage of the bill itself could qualify as an act of terrorism."

A Spy Machine of Darpa's Dreams
"LifeLog has the potential to become something like 'TIA cubed'" by Noah Shachtman, Wired News It's a memory aid! A robotic assistant! An epidemic detector! An all-seeing, ultra-intrusive spying program!
The Pentagon is about to embark on a stunningly ambitious research project designed to gather every conceivable bit of information about a person's life, index it and make it searchable.
What national security experts and civil libertarians want to know is, why would the Defense Department want to do such a thing?
The embryonic LifeLog program would dump everything an individual does into a giant database: every e-mail sent or received, every picture taken, every Web page surfed, every phone call made, every TV show watched, every magazine read.
All of this -- and more -- would combine with information gleaned from a variety of sources: a GPS transmitter to keep tabs on where that person went; audio-visual sensors to capture what he or she sees or says; and biomedical monitors to keep track of the individual's health.
This gigantic amalgamation of personal information could then be used to "trace the 'threads' of an individual's life," to see exactly how a relationship or events developed, according to a briefing from the Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency, LifeLog's sponsor.
...John Pike, director of defense think tank GlobalSecurity.org, said he finds the explanations "hard to believe."
"It looks like an outgrowth of Total Information Awareness and other Darpa homeland security surveillance programs," he added in an e-mail.
Sure, LifeLog could be used to train robotic assistants. But it also could become a way to profile suspected terrorists, said Cory Doctorow, with the Electronic Frontier Foundation. In other words, Osama bin Laden's agent takes a walk around the block at 10 each morning, buys a bagel and a newspaper at the corner store and then calls his mother. You do the same things -- so maybe you're an al Qaeda member, too!
"The more that an individual's characteristic behavior patterns -- 'routines, relationships, and habits' -- can be represented in digital form, the easier it would become to distinguish among different individuals, or to monitor one," Aftergood, the Federation of American Scientists analyst, wrote in an e-mail. DARPA WANTS YOUR LIFE INDEXABLE AND SEARCHABLETHERE'S MORE: The idea of committing everything in your life to a machine is nearly sixty years old. In 1945, Vannevar Bush -- who headed the White House's Office of Scientific Research and Development during World War II -- published a landmark Atlantic Monthly article, "As We May Think." In it, he describes a "memex" -- a "device in which an individual stores all his books, records, and communications, and which is mechanized so that it may be consulted with exceeding speed and flexibility."

"New Al-Qaeda" like New Coke, only harder to buy
These new Al-Qaeda are the same old Al-Qaeda - created by the CIA & bin Laden by BlackJade These "new" Al Qaeda guerrillas, who supposedly are operating more "independently" of Osama Bin Laden's network, look remarkably like the "old" Al Qaeda, who fought with the CIA's "freedom fighters," in Afghanistan in the 1980's and in later CIA-created "jihads" in Chechnya, Bosnia, & Kosovo in the 1990's. This is who is behind the "new" Al Qaeda, who just bombed Casablanca:"[Salafi Jihadi] is headed by Ahmed Raffiki, a former male nurse of Casablanca. In the 1980s and the 1990s, he was active as a recruiter of volunteers from Morocco for the jihad in Afghanistan, Chechnya, Dagestan, Bosnia and Kosovo." Al Qaeda is alive and well in Afghanistan, whether they are called "Saiful Muslameen" or something else. Contrary to what we were led to believe by the Bush administration, the war in Afghanistan after 9-11 was not a "war against Al Qaeda terrorists," but it was a war within the Al Qaeda network."Without Iran, most Northern Alliance commanders couldn't have operated in Afghanistan at a time when they had no other source of international support," says a senior Afghan government source. "Almost every important Afghan commander has family living in Iran and most of them were educated in fundamentalist religious schools, or madrassas." This means that our "allies," the Northern Alliance, were part of Al Qaeda's Madrassas system, which didn't present a big problem for the CIA."Assuming the war with the Soviets would be a long drawn out one, CIA funded many of the Madrassahs through the ISI in the 80s as a future source of recruits." Anyone who stops to connect the dots can see that there is no "new" Al Qaeda. The Bin Laden organization never was wounded seriously enough to stop it from functioning. CIA reins in loose cannons, and keeps their Al Qaeda creation alive and well

Big Brother watches you walk
Monday, May 19, 2003
Pentagon surveillance system hopes to identify people by the way they walk by Michael J. Sniffin, Associated Press Operating on the theory that an individual's walk is as unique as a signature, the Pentagon has financed a research project at the Georgia Institute of Technology that has been 80 to 95 percent successful in identifying people.
If the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, orders a prototype, the individual "gait signatures'' of people could become part of the data to be linked together in a vast surveillance system the Pentagon agency calls Total Information Awareness.
...In its advice to contractors, DARPA declared, "The amounts of data that will need to be stored and accessed will be unprecedented, measured in petabytes.''
One petabyte would dwarf most existing databases; it's roughly equal to 50 times the Library of Congress, which holds more than 18 million books.

Who exactly are the paranoid anti-Americans?
A Valis original ...This is obviously extreme paranoia. These "delusional America-haters" have sided with the enemy. Remember, there are evil boogeymen hiding under every single bed in every home in America. Without a KGB-style police state to "root them out", they will strike again. They will take away your freedom. They will come over here wielding swords and force everybody to grow beards.
Don't believe me? You must be a "terrorist" yourself...

A Tracking System By Any Other Name
The Pentagon's Total Information Awareness program gets an image makeover by Timothy J. Burger, TIME Magazine After attacks from civil liberties advocates on the left and the right, the Pentagon is planning to change a controversial system now being developed to hunt terrorists plotting attacks on the U.S.
Change its name, anyway.
In a report to Congress expected May 20 and now being circulated to top Defense Department brass for comment, the Total Information Awareness program headed by controversial ex-Navy Admiral John Poindexter is slated to be re-named with the more narrowly-focused moniker Terrorist Information Awareness, sources in and outside the Pentagon tell TIME. Pentagon spokespeople declined comment on the plan or on what, if any, substantive changes might accompany a possible name-change.

"Victory? Victory, you say? Not victory -- a defeat it was. Begun, the Freedom War has!"
Sunday, May 18, 2003
by William Stone, III of The Libertarian Enterprise ...If you still can't conceive of the notion that this is entirely a con game constructed by individuals expert at manipulating your emotions, consider this:
There is one thing — one simple, completely free thing — the FedGov could do to reduce the likelihood of terrorism on American soil to nil. It could be implemented with the stroke of a pen, unilaterally, and not require any input by Congress.
The President could enforce the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. He could declare all 20,000 gun laws on the books both Unconstitutional and immoral, instruct the Attorney General to prosecute anyone who attempts to enforce a victim disarmament law, and issue pardons to anyone convicted of a gun crime involving no violence.
The day after this occurred, crime would plummet and domestic terrorists would stop planning any of their nefarious activities. The September 11 terrorists would never have attempted their hijackings had there been some likelihood that they were surrounded by armed individuals who would never let their day be interrupted in that fashion.
That Dubyuh isn't even considering such an action is proof positive of his intentions. He doesn't want free individuals capable of defending themselves and those around them from terrorists. He wants ready victims dependent on government to do it for them. To that I say, what if the Jedi weren't allowed to have lightsabers? Why should any party have a monopoly on the use of deadly force?

"Preemptive" arrests of protestors in St. Louis
from St. Louis Today Legal experts said Saturday that it wasn't immediately clear whether police actions in raiding a house at 3309 Illinois Avenue were legal.
City property records show the building is owned by Daniel Paul Green and was purchased in October 1998. Green, 24, said he has been living in the building and making general repairs since he bought it.
Police are usually required to obtain a warrant to search a home. But a warrant is not necessary if the building is abandoned or if police have reason to think it is.
Law professor Richard Kuhns questioned why the police targeted that particular address.
"Even with the limited information that exists, there is a real appearance of a pretextual police operation to get at protesters," said Kuhns, a professor of law at Washington University School of Law. "Whether that's technically legal or not, it's wrong." Precrime will save us all Two science-fiction references back to back, and I didn't even mention 1984 or The Blue Pill People. All joking aside, America is becoming a distopian police state.

City one-ups Patriot Act
By Michelle Locke, The Associated Press ARCATA, Calif. - More than 100 cities and one state have passed resolutions condemning the USA Patriot Act, saying it gives the federal government too much snooping power. But in this liberal fold of Northern California's Redwood Curtain, a simple denouncement just doesn't go far enough.
To cooperate with the act, the City Council says, is criminal.
Starting this month, a new city ordinance would impose a fine of $57 on any city department head who voluntarily complies with investigations or arrests under the aegis of the Patriot Act, the antiterrorism bill passed after Sept. 11.
Arcata's law is mostly symbolic, since federal law trumps any local ordinance. Still, the notion of civic disobedience is drawing plenty of attention.

Big Brother: "Secure phones" no obstacle to wiretapping (duh)
from the Register The use of so-called secure telephones presents almost no barrier to wiretapping, according to official US government documents.
This interesting revelation is contained in a recent
report on Applications for Orders Authorizing or Approving the Interception of Wire, Oral, or Electronic Communications. Mike Rivero of whatreallyhappened.com notes:A little known scandal is that when the first digitally encrypted phones came out, the high-order bits were all set to zero on the built-in encryption keys, to make a brute force attack on the recorded conversations that much easier for government spooks. This follows a pattern in US Intelligence of compromising coding systems rather than breaking them.

New Fear Campaign Transparent
from the Moonie News (Washington Times) The alert, noting that the Department of Homeland Security believes a truck bombing by terrorists may be pre-empted if the general public remains on guard for certain indicators, outlined what it called general information to assist in recognizing potential truck bombers or other threats based on the Monday bombings in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Is this because of the new law that caused the RRs to stop carrying explosives -- they're now being carried in trucks? What perfectly convenient timing. More on the Anthrax "pond theory"
from MSNBC/Newsweek Earlier this year, acting on a tip, FBI divers recovered a plastic container from the depths of an ice-covered pond near Frederick, Md. Some suspect it could have been used as a crude piece of lab equipment.
...Some investigators believed that the perp may have submerged the box underwater to manipulate the spores into envelopes without sickening or killing himself.
..But what is more intriguing to the FBI is the source of the tip in the first place. NEWSWEEK has learned that the tipster was an acquaintance of Hatfill’s; agents searched the pond after interviewing the friend, who relayed a provocative conversation he’d had with the bioweapons researcher.
...The FBI tested the box for residue of anthrax bacilli, and at first got a positive result. But subsequent tests have been negative.
...While some law-enforcement officials are taking the novel theory seriously, others have dismissed it as fantasy. "It got a lot of giggles," says one FBI source.

Jose Padilla and the OKC bombing?
from (Un)FreeRepublic via APFN via LF
On June 10, Ashcroft announced the arrest of Jose Padilla for a "dirty bomb plot". Then there was an interesting discovery at FR. For their own reasons, people found he looks identical to John Doe, alleged accomplice of McVeigh in OKC bombing. . A coincidence?
So what do y'all think? Padilla/the dirty bomb meme/his indefinite kidnapping, etc.
